Homeschool curriculum has a way of piling up.
A math program your child outgrew. A science book that worked beautifully but is no longer needed. Reading books your family has finished. Sometimes those resources sit on a shelf for years because you know they still have value—you just do not know what to do with them.
The Legacy Curriculum Library gives those books a new purpose.
Instead of collecting dust, your donated homeschool curriculum can help another parent choose wisely, save money, and confidently teach their children.
A Homeschool Curriculum Library Families Can Actually Explore
Choosing curriculum can be one of the hardest, and most expensive parts of homeschooling.
A website can tell you what is included. Reviews can tell you what another family thinks. But sometimes you simply need to hold the book in your hands.
That is why the Legacy Curriculum Library will always keep a reference copy of curriculum whenever possible.
Families can come in, browse the books, flip through lessons, compare programs, read the teacher guides, and get a real feel for whether a curriculum might work for their children.
There is no pressure to buy something just because it looked good online.
Our goal is to help homeschool parents make educated, confident decisions before investing in curriculum for their family.
Borrow Homeschool Curriculum Instead of Buying It
Curriculum can easily cost hundreds of dollars each year, especially when you are homeschooling more than one child. When we receive an additional copy of a curriculum, we can add it to our lending library.
Families will be able to check out eligible curriculum by placing a deposit, use it throughout their homeschool year, and return it when they are finished. Once the curriculum is returned according to the lending guidelines, 100% of the deposit is returned to the family.
That means families can have access to quality homeschool resources without having to purchase every program they use.
And when the books come back? Another homeschool family gets to use them next.
One curriculum donation can keep helping families year after year.
Helping Homeschool Families Who Need a Little Extra Support
Sometimes even a refundable deposit is more than a family can manage. As additional copies of curriculum are donated, we can set aside resources specifically for homeschool families experiencing financial hardship.
Those families can use available curriculum for their homeschool year at no cost. We simply ask that the books be returned when they are finished so they can be passed along to another family the following year.
It is a simple idea with a big impact:
Families helping families.
A book your family no longer needs could become the reason another parent is able to teach a subject this year without worrying about how they will afford the curriculum.
What Happens to Donated Reading Books?
We are happy to give reading books a new life, too!
Donated books that are not needed as part of the curriculum collection may be offered for sale to homeschool families at a very low cost. And those book purchases keep giving.
100% of the proceeds from donated book sales go right back into the Curriculum Library and other programs at Legacy HRC.
So even a few books from your bookshelf can help provide resources and opportunities for homeschool families in our community.
Your Old Curriculum Could Be Someone Else’s Answer
Before you box up old curriculum and leave it in the attic, or let it take up one more year of shelf space, consider donating it to the Legacy Curriculum Library.
Your donation may help a parent:
- Compare curriculum before spending hundreds of dollars.
- Find a program that fits the way their child learns.
- Borrow curriculum they otherwise could not afford.
- Homeschool during a financially difficult season.
- Discover affordable books for their children.
- Feel more confident about the choices they are making for their family.
That curriculum already helped educate your children.
Now it can help another family, too.
Together, we can create a homeschool curriculum library where resources are shared, dollars stretch further, and families have greater access to the tools they need to homeschool with confidence.
Have Curriculum You’re Finished Using?
If you have homeschool curriculum, teacher guides, workbooks in usable condition, educational resources, or reading books that are no longer serving your family, consider giving them a new home at the Legacy Curriculum Library. We are finishing the space for you now, and expect to open to the public in fall of 2026.
Your shelves get a little lighter, and another homeschool family’s year may get a whole lot easier. Contact contact@legacyhrc.org for drop-off and pickup options or call Jessica at 615-869-9598.
