The number of homeschoolers across the nation has been steadily rising over the last decade. The global pandemic resulted in record numbers of families choosing homeschooling for their children. Rutherford County, Tennessee, reported an 85% increase in homeschool registrations in 2020 alone! Today, almost 7,000 students in Rutherford County are enrolled as independent homeschoolers or in accredited online programs and/or church-related umbrella schools.  

Homeschoolers today have varying family living situations ranging from full-time traveling families, mission-minded families, families dealing with chronic or terminal illnesses, families with semi-professional athletes, artists, and entrepreneurs, career-minded teens who are looking to work while finishing school, just to name a few. The need for resources and learning opportunities for homeschoolers has never been greater.  

What is a Homeschool Resource Center?

Our friends, Jay and Heidi St. John describe their homeschool resource center as the next generation of the homeschool cooperative. A place available to families who choose homeschooling not just one day a week but five days a week. Complete with classroom learning spaces, parent workshops, a curriculum bookstore, and coffee shop meeting spaces, a homeschool resource center offers full-time, comprehensive support to homeschooling families.
