Legacy Updates and New Homeschool Programs

Hi, friends!

For those who have been following the journey of Legacy Homeschool Resource Center, we first want to say THANK YOU.  Over the past several months, we have felt your excitement and encouragement for this plan God is working out in His time.  It’s been a humbling experience to wake up each day not knowing what the day will hold or what God will do. One door opens, and another one closes. He has been slowly refining us into more faithful and trusting servants of a good God with a very good plan.

“Behold, I am about to do something new…” Isaiah 43:19

We are excited to see several new homeschooling opportunities launch in our area to support homeschooling families.  Our heart has always been to unify and bring strength to the homeschool community at large, so we cheer on all the new things and appreciate the growing choices for our students.  With nearly 7,000 students enrolled in alternative education programs in Rutherford County alone, we trust that God is raising up all these programs to support the change He is stirring in many hearts.

As Abby, Jessica, and I continue to prayerfully consider each next step for Legacy Homeschool Resource Center. We often ask for clarity on “who we are” and “what we do” as a center that supports the homeschool community.  Right now, He seems to keep sending opportunities to create programs, events, and learning experiences that are unique to our area…something new.  Some of the new things on the horizon include:

Legacy Homeschool Resource Center’s Nature Co-op

Our first ever nature-based cooperative where we will partner with The Wilderness Station at Barfield Park to deliver robust, age-appropriate science programming to students in grades K-9+.  This learning experience is sure to engage your hands-on learners with experiences they will not soon forget.  Registration is open for the fall semester at the link here

Legacy Homeschool Resource Center’s STEM Co-op

A one-of-a-kind learning experience that combines physical education with STEM principles.  Students will engage in STEM-based problem-solving while participating in activities they know and love, like bowling and laser tag.  This group will meet once a week to explore and implement scientific principles in an oh so fun atmosphere.  More details on times, dates and registration for this coming soon.

Field Trip and Events Calendar (Fall Semester)

We are working to bring you an entire semester of field trip fun!! It will include regularly scheduled trips to some family favorite spots and some new ones too.  Send us your suggestions and field trip wish lists, and we’ll work to put together a great fall lineup your families can enjoy.

But what about tutorial classes for homeschoolers?

Truthfully, this is the part the Lord is still working out.  We have some great leads on possible meeting spaces that would allow us to offer tutorial classes to students on an a la carte basis, but nothing is set in stone…yet.  Would you join us and pray for the Lord to open the right doors and make a way if it is His will for us to offer classes in the fall?  We are ready and expectant He will make a way for this to happen for this upcoming school year, but if not, He’s still good and we trust His timing.

How can we get involved and support Legacy Homeschool Resource Center?

We also have a handful of upcoming social/fundraising events to support our upcoming programs and raise funds for a permanent meeting space to host classes, workshops, social events, and more for the homeschool community.  Come join us at one (or all) of these upcoming events and meet the community, ask questions, and learn more.

  • May 28 – Homeschool Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A
  • June 28 – Used Curriculum and Book Sale at SportsCom
  • June 29 – Pancake Breakfast and Fundraising Event at Steak-N-Shake
  • August 17 – MTHEA/LHRC Trade Fair at Murfreesboro Armory

A full listing with detailed information about all our upcoming events can be found here. Check our website and Facebook page often for updates.  And most importantly, keep praying and believing! From the bottom of our hearts, we are so thankful for your continued support!
