All About Reading

All About Reading (AAR) is an intensive phonics program for pre-kindergarten through about fourth grade that uses the Orton-Gillingham methodology. With this method, 97% of English words can be learned according to phonetic rules, leaving only 3% to be learned as sight words.

AAR consists of two main parts: the Pre-reading program (teaching essential pre-reading skills) and the Reading program (consisting of Levels 1 through 4).

This scripted, open-and-go program was developed for busy parents, teachers, and tutors who want to teach reading in the most effective way possible.

  • Research-based multisensory instruction with lightly scripted lessons that give results with only 20 minutes a day
  • Proven, mastery-based program that covers phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension ensuring no gaps in learning
  • Backed by our amazing one-year money-back guarantee and lifetime support

Photo of Astronomy and the Bible
Astronomy and the Bible

A good reference book for families, Astronomy and the Bible gives simple, sensible answers to basic astronomy questions from the viewpoint of a literal Bible interpretation. Many times definite answers cannot be given, so various proposed theories are presented. There are about 170 pages, packed full with information, plus a glossary and a list of other suggested resources for further study. It is divided into six main sections: the earth and moon, the solar system, the stars, galaxies and the universe, general science, and technical terms and ideas. I appreciate the fact DeYoung has included an index so that we can quickly locate specific topics. This is quite a thought provoking book, appropriate for ages ten and up, but especially good for high school level.

Beast Academy, a math curriculum for grades one through five, stands out from all other math programs because it is presented in a comic book format. Cartoon characters—staff and students at Beast Academy—are introduced at the beginning of each book, and the same characters are used throughout the series. Beast Academy Online now also offers students most of the same content presented in an interactive format.

Beautiful Feet Books

Beautiful Feet Books began in 1984 as the solution to a homeschool mom’s real problem of wanting to teach her children history without using a dry and lifeless textbook. Beautiful Feet Books publishes and provides teachers guides, curriculum packs, individual books, and other products to homeschool educators worldwide seeking to create an environment where learning is loved. Based on the Charlotte Mason philosophy, this literature-rich approach introduces curriculum to students in a way that is fascinating, relatable, and fun.

Classical Historian publishes their own teacher guides and student workbooks for history courses that are used with textbooks from other publishers as well as one they publish themselves. The Classical Historian courses teach students how to read with discernment, how to gather information, how to think about and analyze information, and how to discuss and write about what they have studied. They do so within the context of history courses covering different eras. These courses implement classical education strategies such as Socratic discussions and analytical writing. Classical educators will note that the methods used are appropriate for both the dialectic and rhetoric stages. Each course should take a year to complete.

we exhibit archeological relics from as far away as Antarctica and Madagascar and as close as right outside our own front door.  In addition to rocks, fossils, gems, minerals, dinosaur bones and unique archeological relics from around the world, you’ll see particular samples from our own state of Tennessee.

This is not a typical natural history museum! Earth Experience offers an interactive, dynamic experience for visitors — you’ll see ongoing research and activities, and you’ll view relics and exhibits that reflect the ground you walk on and the environment where you live.  When you leave, you’ll have a greater understanding and appreciation of the natural history of Tennessee, parts of the United States and the greater world, from the beginning of time through today.

》You’ll see a working paleontology laboratory where real dinosaur bones are cleaned and repaired.

》You’ll see a molding and casting operation creating dinosaur displays and souvenirs for sale in the gift shop.

》You’ll touch dinosaur bones, petrified wood, rocks and minerals.

》You’ll see the dinosaur finds we uncover every summer through our active dig program in Montana.

》You’ll meet Frank, our 38-foot-long T. Rex skeleton!

Simply Put: A Study in Economics by Creative Learning Connection

Simply Put: A Study in Economics is a high school level economics text that presents views representative of the Austrian school of economics—basically a limited-government, free market approach.

The course has both a student book and a teacher key. The student book has 140 pages. The first 84 pages comprise the 36 lessons, so there are just a few pages per lesson. A number of appendices follow the lessons. The last section of the student book has review questions for each chapter plus mid-term and final exams.
